Artist Statement 

My practice is an excavation process of sorts. Trying to look into the nuances of human emotion and conditions, drawing from my own life while also trying to understand perspectives of others.
Taking from that and then attempting to create a visual language that can tell a story that we can all see ourselves within. Paintings filled with questions and affirmations while finding a balance between symbolism and direct content.
Choosing a pallet of mostly primary colors, skin tones and earth shades. Using materials that represent geographic areas from where these stories live. Imagery that is both concrete and loose enough to provide a broad road of identification and self exploration for the viewer. I think of them as "our” paintings as much as "my"paintings.
